Major Software Update

DataRay's WinCamD-LCM4 beam profiling camera

DataRay is pleased to announce a significant software update for the following beam profiling cameras: WinCamD-LCM, WinCamD-UHR, WinCamD-XHR, WinCamD-UCD12, WinCamD-UCD15, WinCamD-UCD23, TaperCamD series, and BladeCam series cameras. The new version 8 software incorporates OpenGL which allows for a much faster update rate. Additionally, we’ve further refined the ISO 11146 second moment beam diameter calculations. Multi-beam mode has been expanded to allow for up to 8 separate laser beams to be tracked simultaneously on a single camera. The software now also allows the user to utilize any combination of cameras in parallel with up to 4 running simultaneously.

We’ve added support for our new M2DU-50 and M2DU-200 stages for all the previously mentioned cameras. The M² dialog now supports customers who want to perform fully automated divergence measurements in the laser beam’s far field.

Based on customer demand, we’ve added additional measurements like plateau uniformity, peak-to-average, D86 and D63 widths, and radial absolute and relative centroids. We’ve also added a feature to generate a PDF report of the current screen information including: beam image, beam profiles, and relevant beam calculations (e.g. beam diameter, ellipticity).

CLEO Conference 2016

DataRay's BeamMap2 scanning slit beam profiler

Come visit DataRay’s booth (#2214) at CLEO 2016! Please ask us to demonstrate the new software. We will have demos showcasing our unique M² measurement capabilities including the following:

  • BeamMap2

The patented, compact BeamMap2 scanning slit beam profiler takes real-time M² beam measurements without a translation stage. We will be demonstrating how this patented M² system is able to accurately and instantaneously profile a laser beam at multiple locations along the beam’s axis of propagation. Additionally, we use a 1550 nm beam—outside the wavelength range of a camera-based M² system—to demonstrate our beam profiling solution at this challenging wavelength range.

  • WinCamD-LCM4

The WinCamD-LCM4 camera is our flagship laser beam profiler. The LCM4 provides high-resolution images with a global shutter and a high frame rate thanks to USB 3.0. When mounted to a DataRay M2DU stage, the LCM4 provides an excellent option for finding the M² and divergence values of a beam. Additionally, the LCM4 M² system is able to both determine M² and analyze the modal content for complex non-Gaussian beams.

Often, our customers wish to look at multiple beams simultaneously. We offer both a multi-beam mode—multiple beams imaged on one camera—or a multi-camera mode, in which several beam profiling cameras run contemporaneously. Even in multi-camera mode, DataRay’s software can calculate clip level or ISO11146 diameters, ellipticity, plateau uniformity, centroid locations, and more in real time. At CLEO, our engineers will be demonstrating how to use two WinCamD-LCM4’s concurrently.

  • Line laser support

Looking to measure a line laser? DataRay will be showing video of our newest product offering: a line laser measurement system. The system will be able to measure beams as long as 180 mm and as thin as 32 µm. Speak to one of the engineers at the booth for additional information, or email us with any questions.

DataRay has over 30 years of experience in the field of beam profiling and our knowledgeable application engineers would be happy to discuss the various aspects of M² measurements, beam diameter measurements, or other laser beam profiling questions with you. Our sales and support teams are always looking forward to discussing your beam profiling application. Have a non-standard system? Let us know! We're always excited to design custom solutions to meet your unique needs. In fact, some of our most popular products originated from customer requests.
